T for Texas by Jimmie Rogers
Back to Full Blog

i had a band in indepedence mo in the sixties, we played a lot of country songs, i realy liked hank williams, his was the most requested songs, especialy your cheeting heart, man i realy got tired of that one. but it was what they wanted to here. the other one was here that lonsome whiporwill, that was a song i sang and realy put my heart in it, that is my favorite in country music. but then there was blue grass, i realy love blue grass music. it is so easy to play and it seems like the guitar just plays itself, all you have to do is make up some words. i play blue grass music down on the river, and it seems that before long there is a lot of people all around, i love it. we also play the blues, ....that is when we all get realy plastered, you dont even now how to play the guitar or the banjo, but the peaple around you thank they can. i have had a lot of damage done to my instruments , but i have had a lots of fun. i like jimmy rogers, i sing a lot of his songs, but t for texas ...t for tenasse is my fav. you all have a great night. see ya.~~~~~~~cowboy.

T for Texas
Jimmie Rodgers

Well, 'T' for Texas, 'T' for Tennessee

'T' for Texas, 'T' for Tennessee
'T' for Thelma, the gal that made a wreck out of me

If you don't want me mama, you sure don't have to stall
If you don't want me mama, you sure don't have to stall
'Cause I can get more women than a passenger train [can haul]

Well, I'm going where the water drinks like cherry wine
I'm going where the water drinks like cherry wine
'Cause this Georgia water tastes like turpentine

I'd rather drink muddy water and sleep in a hollow log
I'd rather drink muddy water and sleep in a hollow log
Than to be here in Atlanta, [and] get treated like a dirty dog

Women make a fool out of me

If you're ever down in mobile be sure to look me up
If you're ever down in mobile be sure to look me up
And if your ever in Atlanta tell Lucille to go to hell

Women make a fool out of me

cowboy,
Love the Singing Brakeman's music...No wonder he's considered to be the father of country music.

Forgot about this one, Cowboy. You prodded my idea for Texas songs. See what you have wrought on my blog.
